Floris Boccanegra lance son exposition sur l’immigration intitulée « I’ll see you on the other side », dont le travail a commencé à Calais puis s’est terminé à Tanger. Cette installation sensible et interactive sera visible à la galerie « Negenpuntnegen » à Roulers en Belgique du 5 mai au 27 juin 2022. L’artiste viendra peut être montrer son travail à Tanger.

I’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE est une installation artistique dynamique mettant en vedette 42 masques faciaux en plâtre de migrants actuellement coincés à Calais, en France ou à Tanger, au Maroc. Ce travail met en lumière la réalité du dangereux voyage que de nombreux migrants entreprennent dans l’espoir d’une vie meilleure. Certains réussissent, d’autres échouent et d’autres disparaissent. Tous les masques ont été fabriqués sur place à Calais et à Tanger. Les participants représentaient 17 nationalités différentes.

Au cours des 6 prochains mois (lorsque la mer sera plus calme), ces personnes tenteront (à nouveau) de traverser la mer du Nord ou la Méditerranée pour entrer au Royaume-Uni ou dans l’UE. Tous les 2 mois, la couleur de chaque masque sera modifiée pour fournir des mises à jour sur la situation en temps réel de ces personnes.

    – Blanc = Cette personne est arrivée en toute sécurité en Angleterre ou dans l’Union européenne.
    – Gris = Pas de changement de situation, cette personne est toujours coincée à Calais ou à Tanger.
– Noir = Le contact avec cette personne a été perdu, pour quelque raison que ce soit.

L’installation est actuellement exposée dans la galerie Negenpuntnegen à Roulers (Belgique) jusqu’au 27 juin 2022, après cette date, cette installation déménagera dans un autre lieu (à confirmer).

I’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE is a dynamic art installation featuring 42 plaster face masks of migrants currently stuck in Calais, France or Tangier, Morocco. This work highlights the reality of the dangerous journey that many migrants undertake in hopes of a better life. Some succeed, some fall short and others disappear. All masks were made on location in Calais and Tangier. The participants represented 17 different nationalities.

Over the course of the next 6 months (when the sea will be the most forgiving), these people will try (again) to cross either the North Sea or the Mediterranean to get into the UK or the EU. Every 2 months, the color of each mask will be changed to provide real-time status updates.

• White = This person has safely arrived in England or in the European Union.
• Grey = No change in status, this person is still stuck in Calais or Tangier.
• Black = Contact with this person has been lost, for whatever reason.

The installation is currently on display in gallery Negenpuntnegen in Roeselare (Belgium) until the 27th of June 2022, after which it will move to another location (tbd).
